On the 1st of March 2013 an official presentation was made to the Preseli Ward staff of a special Bariatric Chair.
This chair will be used on the ward alongside a patients bed and will enable staff to manouvre an immobile (and sometimes heavy) patient from the bed onto the chair. The chair can then be reclined to numerous positions for best patient care and treatment.
The remote controlled chair cost £4,750 and donations totalling £3027 – made up of £620 received from Mrs Maureen Davies and her son from Beulah, plus a donation of £1000 from Mrs E Thomas from Swiss Valley, Llanelli. The money was donated in recognition of the wonderful care given by tthe staff to their late husbands. In addition the sum of £1407 was donated by the clients of the Stag and Pheasant pub in Carmarthen in appreciation of the treatment given to one of their customers. The League of Friends made up the remainder – amounting to £1723..
